Community Garden is Launched!

The Town of Bishop’s Falls is pleased to announce the community garden, located in the Fallsview Municipal Park, is now available to the public!  The Town has 13 planter boxes that are available, free of charge, to residents.  At this point, until the Town can assess interest, residents can utilize a maximum of two planter boxes each. Additional boxes may be acquired after the deadline, if available.

The garden has everything you’ll need for planting!  You only need to provide the seed, time, and care.  The community garden provides residents with an excellent opportunity to grow vegetables or plants and interact with one another.  The Town Council is very pleased to offer this service!  If you are interested in a planter box, please contact David Collins, Recreation Coordinator/Event Planner, at 258 5451 or on or before July 3, 2018.

Notice:  Sea Cans

Over the past several weeks, the Town observed an increase in the number of sea cans being placed in residential zones.  Sea cans, as they are commonly called, are essentially metal shipping containers and they can become unsightly if not properly maintained.  As a point of clarification, residents are not required to obtain a permit to place sea cans on their properties; however, section 34 of the Occupancy and Maintenance Regulations, which is copied below, will apply in these cases:

Section 34 (on site storage)

1)The storage of materials or equipment on the site of a building or dwelling unit shall be at the rear of the lot.

2)All items shall be neatly arranged and shall not cause inconvenience or imposition to adjoining properties.

3)Storage space on corner lots shall be screened.

Residents are required to ensure the sea cans satisfy section 34 of the Occupancy and Maintenance Regulations.  They must also ensure the sea cans are properly maintained.
