Safety Advisory

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, is advising residents that it will be lowering water levels through Bishop’s Falls by four feet starting on February 9th, 2015.  People crossing the river upstream of the dam should take notice of the ice conditions as they may become unstable as a result of the lowering of the water level.  Residents should exercise extreme caution.  This condition will exist until all ice has gone out of the river.  For more information about snowmobile, ATV and winter safety visit -

Sort It Central - Recycling and Garbage Program

By now all households should have received an information package from Central Newfoundland Waste Management (CNWM) regarding the launch of the curb side recycling and garbage program for Central Newfoundland.  The package contains very useful information and the guide should be kept for future reference. 

The Program Launch Date is March 2, 2015 with full mandatory compliance expected by March 31, 2015.  For further details please contact CNWM at 709-653-2900, or


The Town of Bishop’s Falls would like to congratulate the 512 Exploits Squadron Air Cadet Band on their outstanding performance at the Provincial Cadet Band Competition at MHCS in St. John’s on Feb. 7, 2015. 

The Band won first place in several categories including Best Overall Band, Best Service Band, Top Air Cadet Band and Top Band Major (Flight Sargent Aidan Fancey).  The 512 Exploits Squadron is now THE TOP CADET BAND IN NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR.  See Pictures Below

On January 29, 2015 the Town hosted a public meeting on the Exploits River Development Strategy.  The Strategy is an important initiative that will help frame Bishop’s Falls as a unique and desirable angler and tourist destination.  If you did not get a chance to attend the public meeting and would like to provide feedback, send us an email at before February 6, 2015.  We look forward to receiving your comments/suggestions/opinions.

At a Public Council Meeting held on January 20, 2015, Councillors were pleased to present Certificates of Appreciation to Sarah Ward, Miss Bishop’s Falls; Lacey Street, Little Miss Bishop’s Falls and Dawson Snow, Little Mr. Bishop’s Falls for the Excellent Job they did representing our Town in 2014-2015
