Feedback on Municipal Regulations
June 17, 2010
The Town of Bishop’s Falls is seeking the public’s opinion on two (2) regulations that are now before Council, namely the Anti-Litter Regulations, 2010 and the Waste Collection and Disposal Regulations. These regulations, which can be found on the Town’s website (www.bishopsfalls.ca), are scheduled to be adopted on July 20, 2010; therefore, formal feedback from residents must be received by the Town Clerk on or before July 16, 2010. The regulations are briefly summarized below
These regulations, once adopted, will replace the Town of Bishop’s Falls Anti-Litter Regulations. This by-law focuses on prohibiting litter, which is defined in the regulations, on public and private property, and it also establishes a new permit system for residents who intend to demolish, repair, or scrap a vehicle on their properties.
These regulations, once adopted, will replace the Town of Bishop’s Falls Garbage/Refuse Regulations. This by-law focuses on what garbage will be collected and disposed of by the Town. It also outlines the responsibilities of residents when it comes to the proper disposal of their waste. These regulations do not alter the current collection system in a substantial way. In addition to other minor changes, the weight of the garbage bag is limited to 40 lbs rather than 50lbs.
